Understanding AyurvedaThe science of life.

Ayurveda is a traditional health doctrine from India, whose origins date back several millennia. The term is composed of the Sanskrit words „Ayus“ for life and „Veda“ for knowledge – Ayurveda thus means „knowledge of life“.

The focus is on the human being as a whole. Body, mind, nutrition, lifestyle, and personal environment are not considered separately, but as interconnected areas. The goal is to promote individual balance and sustainably support personal well-being.

The 5 Elements

According to Ayurvedic understanding, all life is composed of five elements:

Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Aether.

These elements combine into the three so-called Doshas – Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. They describe different physical and mental principles and are individually expressed in each person.

The 3 Doshas

VATA – AIR & ETHER

Vata stands for movement, lightness, and creativity. It is associated with breathing, circulation, communication, and mobility, among other things.

PITTA – FIRE & WATER

Pitta embodies transformation, warmth, and clarity. It represents digestion, metabolism, energy, concentration, and decisiveness.

KAPHA – EARTH & WATER

Kapha represents stability, calm, and structure. It is associated with strength, endurance, regeneration, and inner consistency.

Ayurveda is individual

Every person carries all three doshas within them – however, in a very personal composition. External influences, diet, daily routine, seasons, or stress can alter this balance.

Ayurvedic applications, dietary recommendations, and daily routines are therefore tailored as individually as possible to personal needs. Expert advice forms the basis for selecting the appropriate applications.

Panchakarma und ayurvedische Retreats

Panchakarma refers to a traditional Ayurvedic concept for purification and regeneration. It combines individually tailored treatments, rest periods, Ayurvedic nutrition, and conscious daily planning.

Welche Elemente eines Retreats eingesetzt werden, richtet sich nach dem persönlichen Befinden, der Konstitution und dem jeweiligen Retreatziel.
